We all have our hopes and our fears, but over the years, citizens of varying backgrounds have come forth with their own notions of the Canadian identity. Most of the time it is been defined and contrasted by opposition to the American one. On this page we list the relevant quotes that were found over the internets on the subject of annexation in the Canadian-American context. If you find more, don't hesitate, send them in, and they will be added to this list! Sometimes, popular figures make comments relating to annexation, that are not documented as text on the internets, but are rather made available through other mediums such as www.youtube.com. If you notice any audio-visual statement worthy of mention, let us know! I've begun adding the authentic comments from personalities I contacted to gather opinions concerning this idea for a democratic annexation of Canada's provinces as states within the American federation. Sure not all of them are supportive, but my job is to communicate their views, regardless of their position. As a Quebecker, it's understandably easier to reach out to personalities from my area, but I'm making real progress on the larger North American front also! Enjoy! |

"When it comes to an agreement with the Americans I think that for the moment they have bigger problems then us, be they economic, health-care, internal politics, etc. So I don't see what we would have to gain and to tell you everything with the right-wing government that we are stuck with right now I think we already look enough like the Bush administration as things stand! We even lost our image that was respected and beloved internationally so I advocate electing for ourselves a government that will re-establish the true Canadian values, which is to say a great conscience and environmental responsibility, against war but rather coming to aid at the international level....and most importantly an aid that isn't financed by big oil that would help a lot..." |

"Complex subject. I lived in the United States for a period of 9 years. I have members of my family which are American. Like Canadians, the Americans are far from being an homogenous people. You just need to visit Texas, California, Maine or Kansas to notice how different they are in their values. As a Canadian, I don't share some of the values that the majority of Americans share together and I am convinced that it's reciprocal. So strictly on the layer of values, I don't see a merger of our two countries and we should instead evolve as independent countries, linked by our shared needs and our friendship. Marc." |

"Dear Alexandre, In theory yes, it would be a good idea---if both nations were run by patriots and not Jesuit controlled minions. Thus, there must be secession of every state and province to then realign with other states and provinces with the same nationalistic goals. Roman Catholic Quebec needs to secede, but be its own White Catholic nation. But it is my opinion that the Jesuits ruling both the US and Canada are going to merge both nations in the near future----to the detriment of all of us. For that merger will be via the strong hand of an American Fascist military dictator in response to Jesuit Obama's socialist communism. Lord bless, Brother Eric" |

"Many Canadian nationalists harbour the bizarre fear that should we ever reject royalty, we would instantly mutate into Americans, as though the Canadian sense of self is so frail and delicate a bud, that the only thing stopping it from being swallowed whole by the US is an English lady in a funny hat." |

"We Canadians live in a blind spot about our identity. We have very strong feelings about who we aren't but only weak ones about who we are. We're passionate about what we don't want to become but oddly passive about what we should be." |

"There may be a spectacle perhaps nobler yet than the spectacle of a united continent, a spectacle which would astound the world by its novelty and grandeur," - the spectacle of two peoples living in amity side by side for a distance of 4,000 miles." |

"Conditions today in Canada make for annexation rather than for imperial federation. The penetrative influence of trade by rail and coastal lines, the mental propensity of the two peoples living under the same or similar conditions, industrial and social, the constant inter-communication of Canadians and Americans are all powerful factors making for annexation." |
